SAYS, PEOPLE NEED HELP IN CREMATION CAN DIAL CONTROL ROOM NUMBERS FOR ASSISTANCE
Promptly acting after a video of a father carrying the corpse of his11-year-old daughter for cremation went viral on social media, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori ordered a probe into the whole incident which found that minor was not succumbed to Covid-19.
Divulging the details, the DC said that as per inquiry report conducted by the Sub Divisional Magistrate , the cause of death was not Covid-19 as she was tested negative for Corona Virus.
He added that girl was admitted in Jalandhar Civil Hospital from where she was referred to Amritsar Medical college. An ambulance carried the patient to Amritsar, where she remained admitted in the surgical ward. After, the death an ambulance again dropped the dead body back in Jalandhar at their house.
Poining out further, Covid Patient Tracking Officer (CPTO) Navneet Kaur Bal said thay no one in the family or anyone in the area come forward to seek help in the cremation. She also said that anyone need help in such cases can contact at 0181-2224417 or Civil Surgeon Control Room Number 01812224848.
She said that in normal cases (other than Covid-19 deaths), once the dead body is handed over to family, they take care of the last rights, however, in present case no one approached her for the help in cremation. She also stated that the cremation protocol is followed only in case of Covid-19 death, however this case was different as deceased was tested negative for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the deceased family, the DC pray to almighty to grant strength to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss. He also assured fulsome support to the family in this hour of grief.
